I am Ammar, an artificial intelligence researcher and research software engineer. In the past, I have worked for Harvard GAMI (a group at Harvard University) where I developed object recognition systems for recognizing human fractures, including contributions to a medical adviser chatbot. I left this lab and started working for LAION AI, leading open-source projects for Huggingface.
I spend much of my time at LAION AI, working in audio and Natural Language Processing. Although I focus on Natural Language tasks more, I have a few planned papers for publications at ICML, NeurIPS, EMNLP, and Interspeech. I contribute largely to datasets and sometimes to training.
Other than research, I spend time on research software engineering, where I design and customize systems for LAION AI and personal projects. These contributions are aimed to be scalable, like routing network traffic of 100TB each month through eastern EU servers, a scalable audio enhancement framework, a scalable audio-transcription framework, and scalable web scrapers and spiders. When bored, I spend time learning a new language or making cool projects.
Ouch, forgot! I am a Neuroscience researcher too! Working for the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour.
